Job Description:

The duties of the Systems Technician include:

Build, maintain, test, and ship.

  • Mechanically and electrically build complex assemblies with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
  • Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain production equipment and tools.
  • Conduct experimental, environmental, operational, or stress tests on assemblies. 
  • Perform system set ups, application programming on specialized platforms with applications in automation and robotics.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electromechanical issues associated with corrective and preventative maintenance.  This includes work with common tools such as multimeters, DMM’s, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Assist in packaging finished products and prepare them for shipment.
  • Assembling low voltage 24V DC systems and some systems operating on 120 VAC or 480 VAC, including soldering, crimping and testing.
  • Read, analyze, interpret documents such as procedure manuals, wiring diagrams, blueprints & schematics to aid in the high-quality assembly and/or repair of robotic systems, power supplies and cables.
  • Perform tasks on a variety of wires and multi-conductor cables such as cutting, sleeving, terminating, and labeling.
  • Perform Power Up and QA on assembled assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Contribute to technical reports and other Production related documentation.

Quality Control

  • Execute the first article inspection for machined and non-machined parts, i.e., when we receive parts from machine shops parts should be inspected against the drawing to ensure a smooth assembly (i.e., helicoils are installed, dimensions and tolerances meet spec.)
  • Work with Engineering to ensure products are built to specification and with high quality.
  • Complete quality control production reports and sign-off sheets to ensure high quality production processes and output. 
  • Participate in kick-off meetings to become familiarized with mechanical electrical assembly and power up steps to support a quick and efficient build process.
  • Participate in postmortem meetings to identify and share strengths and weaknesses in the build process with the goal of improving future builds.

Documentation

  • Consume, contribute to, and submit, per existing procedures, technical and quality signoff sheets and reports.
  • Redline the most current versions of mechanical and/or electrical work instructions and schematics when determined documentation is obsolete, incomplete, or incorrect.
  • Generate Quality reports, ECR’s and OR’s as deemed necessary for issues found during the build process and Inspection.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate would have the following experience, skills, and personality traits:

  • 2&43; years background in Robotics or Industrial Automation
  • High School &43; 4 years systems experience or may have a combination of both electrical & mechanical / may substitute AA Degree &43; 2 years’ experience.
  • Highly dependable and able to consistently work a 40-hour work week. M-F 8am-5pm.
  • The ability to work independently to achieve required goals with minimal oversight.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing or orally.
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical circuits.
  • Working knowledge of the following platforms, Microsoft Office, Google Doc’s, Windows 7/10 desktop and Linux embedded products.
  • Knowledge of the following areas within embedded system development: circuit board testing and troubleshooting, commercial microprocessor platforms and architectures (eg, ARM), and memory management
  • Knowledge of C/C&43;&43; and (optionally) .NET C.  Can understand, develop, and debug low-level software routines as well as system-wide software architecture.
  • Strong skills or aptitude with motor tuning procedures for many classes of motors, especially DC brushless servos and associated PID tuning for point-to-point and free-running applications.  This includes the ability to troubleshoot poorly performing motor systems and apply solutions through improved tuning parameters and techniques.
  • Proficient with hand tools, drill press, lathe, sanders, and bandsaws, etc.
  • Well versed in industrial safety and security procedures.

Hourly non-exempt pay range: $29-$39/hour
