WestJet Technical Training is looking for a dedicated, well organized and technically knowledgeable person to join our hardworking team of Technical Instructors.  The Technical Instructor is responsible for course development and delivery of all training related to WestJet’s Approved Training Organization and Approved Maintenance Organization. WestJet Technical Training is a shared service between WestJet, WestJet Encore and Swoop.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and conduct Technical Training related to the Q400, B737NG/MAX/BCF and B787 aircraft including Level III Aircraft Type Training, Run Up and Taxi simulator training and other technical courses;
  • Develop and conduct training related to WestJet’s AMO including Human Factors, Maintenance Control Manual, Maintenance Programs & Procedures including TRAX Transactions;
  • Develop and conduct other training such as Flight Crew Annual and Initial Ground School, Dispatch System Recurrent and Contract Brake Rider Training;
  • Develop and conduct Safety training such as Forklift, Aerial Platform, First Aid, Fall Protection and Confined Space Entry;
  • Identify course curriculum changes through analysis of aircraft manufacturer documents such as Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, Maintenance Tips and Fleet Team Digests;
  • Develop and maintain internal documents such as the Training Policy Manual, Technical Training Course Catalogue, Master Lesson Plans, Technical Training Bulletins and Technical Training Memorandums;
  • Provide technical expertise to Flight and Technical Operations when requested for issues spanning from investigations to manual and checklist development;
  • Develop, maintain and deliver the apprentice development program.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (M2 or E);
  • 10 years of aviation experience is required;
  • 3 years of Transport Category aircraft maintenance is an asset;
  • B737NG/MAX/BCF, Q400, B787 Type Certificate is an asset;
  • Experience developing and instructing aircraft maintenance training is an asset;
  • Completion of an instructional techniques, instructional design, or technical writing course is an asset;
  • Intermediate computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite is required;
  • Knowledge of TRAX or EMRO is an asset;
  • Must be able to travel domestically or internationally on a frequent basis.
