Position Detail - Technician - ISC-Mfg – Weld Post Cleaning
Qualification - ITI / Diploma Mech / Production
Experience required - 3 years and above
The Electrochemical Weld Cleaning Technician is responsible for the post-weld finishing of stainless steel. Using specialized electrochemical machines, you will remove heat tint, oxidation, and contaminants from weld seams. Your goal is to achieve a high-quality aesthetic finish while ensuring the protective chromium-oxide layer is restored through electrolytic passivation.
Responsibilities
* Machine Operation & Setup: Configure electrochemical cleaning units (adjusting voltage and current settings) based on material thickness and weld type (TIG/LBW)
* Chemical Management: Prepare and maintain electrolyte solutions and neutralizing agents. Ensure proper application of conductive brushes or pads.
* Surface Finishing: Execute precision cleaning of weld joints to remove discoloration (heat tint) without damaging the base metal surface.
* Equipment Maintenance: Maintain cleaning wands, replace carbon fiber brushes, and ensure the machine’s electrical leads are free of corrosion or shorts.
* Safety & Environmental Compliance: Handle acidic solutions safely, wear appropriate PPE (acid-resistant gloves/aprons), and manage the neutralization and disposal of chemical waste according to local regulations.
Qualifications
* Technical Knowledge: Understanding of the Electrolysis process and how electricity interacts with conductive fluids to clean metal.
* Material Science Basics: Knowledge of different stainless steel grades (e.g., 304, 316) and how they react to electrochemical treatment.
* Detail Orientation: Ability to identify "pitting" or "etching" caused by incorrect voltage and adjust settings to prevent part damage.
* Safety Proficiency: Experience working with chemical SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and specialized ventilation systems.
Preferred Experience
* Experience with brands like Fronius, Cougartron, Walter (Surfox), or TIG Brush.
* Prior experience in Food-Grade or Pharmaceutical manufacturing where weld hygiene and passivation are mission-critical.
* Background in metal fabrication, polishing, or electroplating.
Preferred Industries
Automobile, Aerospace, Automation, Pressure vessel, Piping , Oil and Gas, etc.
