Technician

Job Description:

As a fully owned subsidiary of Safran Electronics & Defense, Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia Pty Ltd (SEDA) delivers and supports various products including high performance optronics and inertial navigation equipment.

Headquartered in Sydney, SEDA brings local expertise in the integration of optronics and navigation systems for the air, land and naval platforms of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Technician will be responsible for:

•tPerform assembly, testing and validation of optronics and navigation/timing product-lines in accordance with applicable process and instruction.
•tPerform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks for supported products including but not limited to; inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, repairs/upgrades, integration and validation.
•tPerform maintenance activity on customers sites across Australia, New Zealand or other international destinations as required.
•tMaintain strict adherence to health and safety, and quality standards.
•tCreation of accurate technical reports
•tEnsure proper and timely recording and closure of all technical activities
•tAssist in maintaining support and test equipment related to operations.
•tAssist Support Engineers to develop and improve procedures, work instructions and forms.
•tIdentify and propose for implementation, improvements and innovations relevant to operations and product testing/maintenance processes.

Job Requirements:

To be successful in this role , you must have:

•\tTertiary qualification in Engineering or relevant experience.
•\tAble to read, analyse and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
•\tSetup and application of support and test equipment.
•\tExperience in technical documentation and processes IAW Quality Standards AS/NZS9001, AS/NZS9100, and AS/NZS45001 framework
•\tExperience in Continuous Improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, 5S etc)
•\tIntermediate working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, Visio).
•\tSpecialised knowledge and/or operational understanding of optronics and navigation systems is desirable.
•\tPrior work experience in soldering within the electronics industry is desirable.
