Position Summary:
Level four tooling machinists demonstrate expert trouble shooting, full area cross training abilities as well as demonstrate advanced knowledge of thread/form roll and punch press tooling configurations and function. Level four tooling machinists may also be required to perform complex rework operations. Level four tooling machinists will work with both production and engineering in the development and design of new or improved processes and tools. Typically, 5+ Years.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Obtain job assignments from supervisor or manager.
• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
• Correctly interpret work orders.
• Operate all required equipment (Lathes, Grinders, Mills, etc.)
• Machine complex components
• Manage area inventories & order supplies as needed.
• Assist in R&D work (working with engineering & production)
• Provide leadership and training to lower-level employees
• Work in a team environment, i.e., follow instructions and assist others as needed.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform daily housekeeping / 6S activities as required.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor or manager.
Experience & Education:
• Five (5) + years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker
• Two (2) year Machine Tool Technology or Machine Tool & Die Degree Preferred
Working Conditions:
• Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment.
• Constant exposure to moderate noise.
• Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, and hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve hours a day.
• Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, power grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials and fine manipulation.
• Must be able to safely operate an overhead crane.
• Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
• Must be able to operate a variety of material handling equipment such as industrial forklifts.
• Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
• Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
