Summary Description of PositionThe Warehouse Manager oversees all warehouse and material control operations, providing leadership, strategic planning, and direction to supervisors and warehouse personnel. This role ensures effective receiving, storage, inventory management, and distribution of materials in accordance with company policies, contractual requirements, and government regulations. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for optimizing workflow efficiency, maintaining compliance, and driving continuous improvement across all warehouse functions.
Minimum Requirements and QualificationsHigh school education or equivalent; associate or bachelors degree preferred.
Five (5) or more years of experience in warehouse, logistics, supply chain, or material control roles, including at least two years in a supervisory or lead position.
Demonstrated ability to manage warehouse operations and lead multiple teams or functional areas.
Thorough working knowledge of government stock catalogs, technical orders, and related publications.
Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Major Responsibility Areas and DutiesLeadership, Planning & OversightDirects daily warehouse and material control operations, including receiving, storage, issuing, inventory management, preservation, and shipping activities.
Provides supervision, guidance, and performance management for supervisors and warehouse staff.
Develops and implements warehouse procedures, workflow improvements, and productivity standards.
Ensures compliance with contractual requirements, company policies, and government regulations.
Inventory & Material ControlOversees inventory accuracy through audits, reconciliation, and process controls.
Approves material and parts substitution listings, spare parts breakdowns, and related documentation.
Ensures accurate records retention, material status reporting, catalog research, and database maintenance.
Establishes and monitors stock control levels to meet production and operational needs.
Cross-Functional CoordinationServes as the primary liaison between Warehouse, Production, Procurement, and Materials departments.
Coordinates material planning, issue resolution, and delivery priorities.
Oversees expediting activities and ensures timely follow-up on delayed or critical items.
Maintains close coordination with Procurement to support supply chain timelines and vendor performance.
Documentation & ReportingReviews and approves reports, documentation, shipping and receiving forms, and memorandums.
Ensures proper file maintenance and recordkeeping in support of internal and external audits.
Develops metrics and provides regular updates on warehouse performance, material status, and operational challenges.
Operational ExcellenceEnsures safe, clean, organized warehouse conditions.
Drives continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing costs, improving accuracy, and enhancing efficiency.
Oversees compliance with T.O. checks, preservation requirements, packing, crating, and scrap disposal procedures.
Additional DutiesPhysical Requirements and Environmental ConditionsAbility to perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods in office or warehouse environments.
Ability to work in areas with constant to intermittent loud noise.
Ability for close and distance vision as required for inspections, documentation, and safety.
