Position Summary
Reporting to a Value Stream Manager, the Supervisor oversees day-to-day activities and leads his/her team on Parker Lean System processes and The Win Strategy to ensure a safe work environment, drive quality improvements, provide premier customer service, develop a qualified work force, and reduce operating costs, inventories, and lead times through continuous improvements. Our ideal candidate has proven experience and a passion for coaching, listening, giving feedback, developing, and engaging employees.
Responsibilities
Leads the material handling team in daily operations between shifts, and corresponds with multiple other departments which include but are not limited to supply chain, production control, maintenance, operations, and customer service.
Manages inventory by utilizing inventory applications and programs.
Creates the basis for continuous improvement by ensuring standardized work and processes are followed, needed adjustments are implemented, and the area is compliant with safety and 5S requirements.
Builds empowerment through regular team meetings to reflect on problems, solutions, and challenges, creating a collaborative culture of continuous improvement through the Team Improvement Board (TIB) process.
Leads cross-training for associates and backups from other departments to assure the continuous smooth running of the operation to get quality right the first time.
Manages fleet of Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) used for material handling.
Conducts team member disciplinary and corrective actions.
Other tasks as requested by management team
Qualifications
Demonstrated teamwork and team-building skills. Ability to assess and develop individual and team skills and capabilities.
Ability to create/maintain enthusiasm for challenges and serve as role model by promoting safety, innovative ideas and positive change.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3-5 years of management or supervisory experience
Experience leading lean teams preferred
Sufficient background in accounting, PC skills, manufacturing, human resource management and inventory control
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
