Summary

Provides services for the 709th Maintenance Support Squadron (MXSS) in the 309th Maintenance Support Group (MXSG), Depot On-Site Contract Augmentee Teams 5 (DOCAT5), Hill AFB, UT.

Paint and Blast support for the following platforms:

A-10, B-1B, B-2, B-52, C-130, C-17, C-5, CBRA, COMM, E-3, F-15, F-14(C/D), F-15E, F-15X, F-16, F-22, F-35, F-5, KC-135, LGM-30, MQ-9, NWS, T-38, UH-1, and UNK in accordance with the Air Force technical directives, applicable technical data, and federal contract requirements.

Painter shall possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively function as Aircraft Painters in support of the 309th Maintenance Support Group (MXSG). These personnel shall be capable of performing all tasks associated with aircraft and component surface preparation, coating, and finishing. Duties include conducting chemical stripping of paints and primers; performing abrasive blasting on ferrous and non‑ferrous materials; preparing surfaces through sanding, grinding, mechanical abrasion, and acid etching; and applying primers, topcoats, epoxy coatings, lacquer, resin, Radar Absorbent Material (RAM), Low Observable (LO) coatings, and other authorized materials using approved application methods. Personnel shall also be capable of masking and protecting sensitive aircraft areas, applying spanings and stenciled insignia, and inspecting aircraft and components for dents, corrosion, and other surface defects.

Painters shall be proficient in operating required tools and equipment, including paint guns, sanders, grinders, hydro‑blasters, media blasting systems, plastic scrapers, and common hand and pneumatic tools. Personnel shall be capable of performing final inspections to verify coating quality and compliance with technical data, and shall execute all duties in accordance with applicable Department of Defense (DoD) directives, technical orders, safety requirements, and 309 MXSG procedures. The Contractor shall be required to lift parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Essential Functions

  • Conducting chemical stripping of paints and primers; performing abrasive blasting on ferrous and non‑ferrous materials; preparing surfaces through sanding, grinding, mechanical abrasion, and acid etching; and applying primers, topcoats, epoxy coatings, lacquer, resin, Radar Absorbent Material (RAM), Low Observable (LO) coatings, and other authorized materials using approved application methods.
  • Document maintenance actions in aircraft logs and approved maintenance systems
  • Ensure compliance with Tool Control, FOD, safety, and quality programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Duties

  • Performing all tasks associated with aircraft and component surface preparation, coating, and finishing
  • Interpret technical manuals, drawings, and directives
  • Document maintenance actions per AFI requirements

Qualifications

  • Must have three (3) years related experience and should have experience guiding/instructing/mentoring less experienced technicians.
  • Must be able to work, day, swing or mid shift as required
  • Depot “D” Level experience preferred
  • Favorable Tier 3 Investigation if required and CAC required

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing and walking for extended periods, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces. Requires sufficient manual dexterity and vision to use tools and inspect aircraft systems. Must be able to work in high-noise environments, wear required PPE, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Compensation

  • $29.17/hour + $2.65 H&W
