Aircraft Painter

Aircraft, Painter (23050):
The Aircraft Painter coats surfaces of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices, removes old paint from aircraft, using liquid paint remover and scraper. Smooths surface with sandpaper and steel wool, roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure that paint adheres to surface, masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted, and paint insignia, letters or numerals on aircraft surface, using stencils.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Aircraft Painter:
Minimum five (5) years total experience as an Aircraft painter operations or 5 level equivalents. Military Aircraft and Aircraft Ground Equipment/Support Equipment (AGE/SE) painter experience is preferred.
Responsibility:
Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.
Task Requirements:
- Prep and Paint Aircraft and Ground Support Equipment/Support Equipment (AGE/SE)
- Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
- Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means
- Support Equipment (SE) operation and inspections
- Aircraft inspections
- Tool Control Program Tool issue/receipt supporting aircraft maintenance shops
including hazardous materials, tool room/box/pouch configuration
- Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment
- Perform shift work and/or overtime as required
- Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.
- Perform other tasks as directed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eight or more years’ experience as aircraft painter
- Basic Corrosion Control Course.
- Advanced Corrosion Control Course
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum five (5) years total experience as an Aircraft painter or 5 level equivalent
- Must be able to work shift schedules as required per Performance Work Statement (PWS)
- Must be able work work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Sn-Th or as required per PWS
- Must be able to work flexible work-week schedules as required
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must have at a minimum an interim SECRET security clearance
- Must be eligible for Common Access Card (CAC)
- Must be eligible for Restricted Area Badge
- Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools.
- Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
- Must be able to travel to support off station Temporary Duty (TDY) as required
Compensation
$34.36/hour
Other Compensation
Employees will receive a health and welfare fringe benefit of $2.65 for every hour paid up to 40 hours per week.
