Perform surface preparation, priming, painting, and finishing of aircraft structures and components to meet customer specifications, aerospace quality standards, and unique livery requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare aircraft exterior surfaces for paint application, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and surface treatment.
- Verify aircraft and components are properly prepared for exterior finishing processes.
- Apply primers, topcoats, clear coats, spanings, and decorative finishes to aircraft sections.
- Perform layout work and create patterns as required for customer paint schemes and aircraft liveries.
- Execute multi-stage paint processes using compressed air spray equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, blueprints, and process instructions.
- Perform color matching and paint formulation activities to ensure finish accuracy and quality compliance.
- Handle adhesives, sealants, solvents, coatings, and hazardous materials in accordance with safety and environmental requirements.
- Follow shop processes and manufacturing standards related to FOD prevention, material handling, calibration, ESD, and workplace safety.
- Work from elevated platforms and utilize required fall protection equipment.
- Attend and successfully complete required training and certification programs.
- Support any assigned shift, including overtime, based on business needs.
- This position is 100 onsite.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, vocational training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of painting experience in aerospace, automotive, marine, industrial, or general painting environments.
- Experience with spray painting and multi-stage paint processes such as base coat/clear coat applications.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Experience working at heights and using fall protection equipment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Fall Protection Certification in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Ability to work any assigned shift, including overtime.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators, fall protection gear, safety equipment, and protective masks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of aerospace or aircraft paint experience.
- Experience painting large-scale aircraft or aerospace structures.
- Experience with aircraft exterior finishing, spanings, and livery applications.
- Knowledge of:
- Adhesives, sealants, primers, and organic chemical processing
- Polymers and composite materials
- Surface preparation and coating applications
- Aerospace manufacturing shop processes and safety standards
- Previous Boeing experience.
