Job Summary Responsible for priming and epoxy painting of aircraft, fabricated, production and/or aircraft parts to blueprint specifications, and/or customer paint schemes. Oversees the work for a crew of two or more technicians and assists with training them. Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following: • Oversees a crew of two or more technicians assigned to paint aircraft and aircraft parts • Manage all duties simultaneously on multiple projects • Provides instruction and assigns tasks to technicians • Monitors work for quality and timeliness. Informs supervisor of problems or issues affecting quality, schedule, and budget • Reviews drawings, and parts lists for accuracy and coordinates with other departments to resolve issues therein • Coordinates with repair station inspectors for final inspection and sign-off of completed tasks • Assist in the coordination of daily activities with department supervisor • Review completed work and ensure that the completed parts are protected from damage • Maintains aircraft, work area, and hangar cleanliness • Maintain proper operation and cleanliness of shop equipment • Assist in providing training for new or existing employees they oversee • Oversee and assist in paint stripping using chemical and mechanical methods • Paint aircraft and aircraft parts • Priming and Epoxy Painting of aircraft, fabricated, production and/or aircraft parts to blueprint specifications, and/or customer paint schemes • Preparing parts for painting process using body fillers, glazing putty, sanding, masking, cleaning • Oversee and perform final approval for customer paint scheme layout following prep work on aircraft • Oversee the cleaning of paint booth or related areas, changing booth filters, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment • Controlling paint and related consumables inventory and shelf life • Control and management of essential documentation tasks • Alodine aircraft and aircraft parts • Maintains and follows shop safety rules • Occasional travel, shift work, weekends, and overtime • Other Duties as assigned. Education & Experience • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Trade School Certificate preferred • Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of Painting aircraft, parts and their application. • Basic understanding of FAA certification processes. • Basic knowledge of Texas Commission on Environmental Quality standards and requirements • Typically requires 5-8 years of professional aviation painting experience. Skills • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of concepts and practices. Applies principles and procedures to the completion of difficult assignments. • Works independently to identify and resolve moderate to highly complex, sensitive or higher priority assignments.
