StandardAero is looking for a technically inclined and detail-oriented Coatings Technician to metalize aircraft engine parts as part of our repair and overhaul process. In this role, you’ll apply specialized metal coatings to restore components to their original specifications and ensure optimal performance and reliability. Working with precision equipment and established procedures, you’ll play a key part in extending the life of critical engine parts and supporting our commitment to safety and quality in every repair.
Shift requirement: This position will start on the day shift but may require flexibility to work other shifts as needed to support business demands.
What you’ll do:
Prepare and mask aircraft engine parts for the metalizing process.
Operate blasting and metal spray equipment (manual and automated) to restore and coat component surfaces.
Set up spray parameters and ensure proper coating application, adhesion, and surface finish.
Cure coated parts and verify process specifications are met.
Inspect parts before and after coating using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, profilometers, etc.).
Clean, maintain, and calibrate spray and blasting equipment.
Document process data and maintain accurate production records.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and cross-train in related repair processes.
Follow all safety procedures and quality standards in an MRO environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What skills you will use:
- 2+ years of related experience in coating.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25 of the average work day.
- Regularly required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
Preferred characteristics:
- Technical experience in MRO Aerospace or manufacturing is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of metalizing processes is preferred.
