 Chief Pilot Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures that every flight operated is conducted safely, in compliance with all FAA and government regulations, in conformance with operations specifications, and the Company GOM and SOP’s 

  • Exhibits the highest level of commitment to our crews, patients, and passengers 

  • Reports to the Director of Operations (DO) 

  • Exercises operational control over the scheduling of flights, crews, and operations 

  • Assists with the development, communication, and implementation of efficient operational procedures, policies, and effective growth strategies 

  • Ensures that the department flight operations are properly staffed, organized, trained, and directed to fulfil its responsibilities 

  • Maintains the schedule for flight crews and managing time off requests around flight scheduling 

  • Coordinates with Logistics to ensure proper scheduling of aircraft and pilots, as well as tracking of flights 

  • Assists in promoting a healthy culture for the department and the pilot team that benefits employee engagement, safety, integrity, and overall excellence 

  • Supports the Director of Operations when conducting performance evaluations for the department that provides feedback to and from the employees, as well as planning for corrective actions needed to be successful in their role 

  • Supports the Director of Operations while performing basic functions for the department including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new pilots and counseling or discharging of personnel 

  • Establishes and maintains a close working relationship with the FAA 

  • Prepares and maintains all pilot training, flight and duty, and proficiency records 

  • Coordinates with the Director of Operations on crew status for flight operations and training events 

  • Maintains all record keeping, including those that FAA and the company require 

  • Ensures aircraft documents, checklists, publications, and databases are continually up to date 

  • Oversees and schedules training resources and their execution, including aircraft training flights, simulator, enroute flight checks, ground school, and other learning courses used by department 

  • Coordinates with the Director of Operations and Director of Maintenance on the timely communication and correction of mechanical repairs, as well as planned inspections or maintenance work on the fleet around scheduled flights 

  • Performing flight duties as Captain on qualified aircraft based on scheduling needs and crew capacity 

  • Serves as a check airman on assigned aircraft 

  • Participates in regular pilot meetings and maintain constant communications with flight crews 

  • Proficiency with MAC OS software such as iWork 

  • The Chief Pilot may delegate some of these duties, but retains overall responsibility 

  • All others duties as assigned by the Director of Operations, COO, or other members of Senior Leadership. 

Experience & Qualifications  

The most successful candidate in the position will meet most, if not all, of the following criteria. 

  • Must have a minimum of 5,000 hours TTAF 

  • At least 5 years of Part 119 management experience 

  • Current ATP Certificate 

  • Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Permit 

  • FAA First Class Medical Certificate. 

  • Valid US Passport (must not be expired) 

  • Current type rating in our fleet. 

  • The ability to communicate effectively. 

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and willing to take on new challenges as the company grows.
