As a Principal Pilot, you will act as a senior Subject Matter Expert and will be responsible for the leadership of our aircraft pilot force to include ground and flight training, ground and flight currency and adherence to professional aviation standards. Youll operate the most innovative aircraft and equipment in very challenging operational environments. Our Principal Pilots conduct casualty evacuation, maritime patrol, experimental test flights, special mission training, fighter aircraft training, and various other missions supporting our Nations war fighters.

You will be leading a flight operations test team across the full spectrum of test operations to include requirements development; test planning, execution, analysis, and reporting; instrumentation design, installation, and maintenance; flight operations; and customer interactions. You will report directly to the Chief Pilot and integrate directly with the Test Engineering team to ensure a successful and efficient test program.

Responsibilities will Include:

  • Leading test pilot team through a full-scale test campaign

  • Integrating with the Test Manager to support development of test plans and procedures

  • Participating in customer lead Integrated Test discussions at the Senior Leadership level

  • Coordinating with test engineering on test needs, schedule, and facilities

  • Status work activity as a Control Account Manager

  • Track and report on Pilot and Test Engineer training currency and proficiency requirements

  • Support management of contractor pilots and integration with customer test team

Must-haves:

  • Typically 14 or more years of relevant experience

  • Commercial Pilot Certificate multi-engine and instrument rating without limitations

  • Ability to pass a FAA/Military Pilot Background Check and mandatory drug and alcohol screen

  • Large jet transport aircraft experience

  • A minimum of 2000 hours total fixed-wing as pilot-in-command (PIC) time in a multi-engine aircraft, jet aircraft or combination thereof in aircraft with GTOW 12,500 or greater

  • Experience with complex ground and flight test programs

  • Experience with 14 CFR Part 25 testing and/or Military Systems testing

  • Note: PIC for this purpose is defined as Captain/Aircraft Commander of record, not simply the sole manipulator of the controls. SNC considers only pilot time in fixed wing aircraft toward minimum qualifications. This does not include simulator, helicopter, flight engineer, bombardier, navigator, RIO, EWO, WSO, NFO, or Special Crew.

  • Ability to travel up to 25

  • Ability to Obtain and Maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

Preferred:

  • Flight Test Pilot UM/DER with familiarity to 14 CFR Part 25 regulations

  • FAA issued Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP)

  • Graduate of recognized Test Pilot School

  • Experience leading large, multi-discipline teams

  • Experience with utilizing complex instrumentation data acquisition packages

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, NASA or US Military
