As a Relief Fixed-Wing Pilot/Check Airman you will support Life Link III’s Anoka base while operating the Pilatus PC-12-47/e to provide safe, efficient air medical transport. This role covers pilot vacancies, vacation schedules, sick time, and other operational needs. In addition to flight duties, the Relief Pilot serves as a Check Airman, evaluating and training fixed-wing pilots, conducting proficiency checks, and ensuring adherence to Life Link III standards. Responsibilities include assessing aircraft and weather conditions for airworthiness, maintaining full compliance with aviation regulations and company policies, and upholding Life Link III’s mission and values in all aspects of the role.

Your Impact:

  • Serve as the Company Check Airman for the PC-12-47e, leading training, evaluations, and check rides for fixed-wing pilots.
  • Ensure safe, compliant flight operations through proficient flight planning, weather assessment, pre-flight inspections, and adherence to FARs, SOPs, and company policies.
  • Maintain operational control and final authority for every flight, safeguarding passengers, medical crew, and mission success.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, clinical teams, ATC, and partner agencies to support smooth, coordinated operations.
  • Keep aircraft mission-ready and documentation accurate while supporting seamless shift transitions.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and CRM, modeling professionalism, teamwork, and Life Link III’s values.

Your Qualifications:

  • Commercial pilot certificate amp; Instrument Rating for category and class of aircraft. (Airplane, Single Engine Land) (ATP in category and class meets this requirement.)
  • First or Second-Class FAA Medical Certificate
  • 2500 Total time
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours of cross-country
  • 100 hours nighttime
  • 100 hours of actual instrument time in flight in category.
  • Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external entities to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results
  • Proven ability to effectively train and mentor other pilots
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with a glass cockpit, avionic technology, and iPad
  • Possess sound judgment and objectivity in decision-making
  • Ability to create an environment that demonstrates teamwork and professionalism
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3000 hours total time
  • 2000 hours aircraft flight hours in category
  • 300 hours of Turbine time.
  • Previous PC-12 experience
  • Experience in Air Medical Transport Operations
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Type-rated
  • Dual rated
  • Prior Check Pilot experience
  • Winter flying experience in the Great Lakes Region
  • ATP
  • Prior experience in a Part 135 or Part 121 operation
  • Single Pilot experience
