The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
Role Description:
This position is in the direct support of the Department of States Worldwide Aviation Support Services Contract encompassing Rotary and Fixed Wing aircraft operating overseas in direct support of US Diplomatic and engagement efforts in various nations. Working from the Operations Center within the Program Management Office-this position serves as the lead operations planner and coordinator for all operations, actions, and activities in his/her assigned geographic area of responsibility involving multiple OCONUS Sites and several Operating Locations. This is a staff and flying position. Individual will perform stated operational staff duties and actively fly as a Pilot in Command, or higher, on either Fixed or Rotary Wing aircraft, dependent on pilot experience.
Key Responsibility:
- Support operations of fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft for domestic and international air movements and aerial missions.
- Plan, coordinate, monitor, and control international aircraft repositioning flights.
- Maintain real-time situational awareness of operations, assets, personnel, weather, threats, and mission status across assigned areas.
- Lead deliberate and rapid mission planning, Integrated Product Teams IPTs, and cross-functional coordination for complex operations.
- Conduct contingency planning and develop operational concepts CONOPs and procedures for multi-faceted challenges affecting performance.
- Provide immediate reach-back support for time-sensitive issues impacting OCONUS Outside Continental United States operations, safety, or security.
- Act as subject matter expert SME across a broad range of aviation operations and program requirements.
- Lead the development, review, and maintenance of SOPs Standard Operating Procedures, contingency plans, and flight hour projections.
- Execute and support contingency missions as required.
- Administer flight data and navigation systems, software updates, and ensure all flight publications are current.
- Produce Acceptable Quality Level AQL and customer reports, including flying hour estimates and usage metrics.
- Maintain qualification and currency in assigned aircraft type.
- Serve as Senior Operations Manager when required.
- Conduct routine CONUS and OCONUS travel in support of operational objectives.
- Perform additional aviation duties as assigned.
