Job Description:
Responsible for performing duties as an Instructor Pilot (IP) in the MD 500 series aircraft and supporting simulation devices. Conducts initial aircraft qualification courses, IPC, Aircrew Training Program (ATP) integration, continuation training and evaluation of employee and customer crewmembers in accordance with US Army Aviation Aircrew Training Manual (ATM) requirements. Conducts academic and hands-on performance training and administer evaluations to ensure aircrew proficiency and standardization of training. Responsible for maintaining Individual Aircrew Training Folder, (IATF) and completing required training, currency and readiness entries. Conducts MD 500 series instruction in the aircraft and classroom environment; provides flight instruction in the aircraft and flight training devices; providing contact, basic instrument and basic combat skills training to Army standards IAW government approved ATM. Instruction may include any combination of Individual or Group instruction in an academic classroom environment and or aircraft or simulator. Additionally; It is required that applicant have experience in US Army Aero scout operations and must have completed a course of instruction for IPs at an authorized Aviation Proponent School.
Job Requirements:

Experience: Experience in Mission Attack or Observation helicopter missions required.Combat experience preferred. Instructor Pilot experience at Fort Rucker preferred. Graduate of a course of instruction for MD 500 series IP at an authorized Aviation Proponent School required. MD 500 series or AH-6 experience preferred. FAA rating as Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument – Helicopter (CFII-H) or military equivalent preferred. Minimum of 1,000 flight hours (total time).Minimum of 300 flight hours Instructor Pilot time. Minimum of 250 flight hours NVG/NVD. FAA Commercial Pilot certificate required. Successfully pass the Army or FAA Class II Flight Physical upon hire, and annually thereafter required. Possesses a valid driver’s license.
