Summary

The Inside Sales Correspondent position interacts directly with assigned customers and, in conjunction with the Intercompany Sales Manager, Sales Operations Planning Manager, and Director International Sales to ensure that inquiries and orders being placed are accurately interpreted and executed for conformance to customer product, quality, and delivery requirements and Special Metals pricing and product capability parameters.

Designated portion of the Special Metals Corp. customer product base involving the execution of inquiries, quotations, mill orders and mill order changes for those customers and products. This position also entails the maintenance and reporting of the general SMC daily sales order entry/change data.

Essential Functions

  • Collect information to provide price and delivery for requests for quotation (RFQ) received direct from customers or from District Sales Offices

o Criterion: Respond within 24 hr.

Provide formal and informal quotations to customers.

o Criterion: Comprehensive, accurate and timely quotations.

Enter Mill Orders on the mainframe computer system, ensuring that all necessary information is provided in compliance with known customer requirements (ref. PC-320).

o Criterion: Comprehensive and error-free Mill Orders entered within established scheduling parameters.

Review formal purchase orders to ensure accurate mill order entry and full compliance with customer requirements. Enter change notices and give preliminary notification as required to effect changes to material in process.

o Criterion: An accurate assessment of customer requirements and subsequent modifications to orders as necessary.

Maintain a Mill Order file on current open orders to provide a quick means of order reference and accessibility to latest order criteria both internal and external.

o Criterion: An orderly, comprehensive and accessible Mill Order file.

Monitor delivery status and continually expedite the orders in an effort to meet all delivery promises. Provide customers with a periodic order status as dictated by the customer and/or the District Sales Office.

o Criterion: Orders shipped on time and/or customer awareness of current order status.

Assist the Wrought Products Scheduler, as required, in the generation of manufacturing instructions in the form of manufacturing cards (PC-340).

General: Provide both written and verbal correspondence as required to service the customers and the District Sales Offices.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Associates Degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience is required.

Five years Sales experience in the Manufacturing field is required.

Special Skills

A basic knowledge and understanding of SMC products and capabilities and a familiarity with industry vernacular.

Well established verbal, written, and basic word processing communication skills in addition to the skills necessary to perform the required mainframe and personal computer requirements of the job, i.e. Oracle, Discoverer, EXCEL, Lotus Notes.

Organizational and administrative skills geared towards meeting deadlines and handling uneven workloads.

Excellent telephone communication skills are required.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $65,000 to $80,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1.5X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company&39;s medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
