Overview of role:

WestJet Cargo is seeking a strategic and results-driven Manager, International Sales & Partnerships to lead and grow our international sales portfolio across key global markets.

As a key member of the commercial team, you will develop and execute partnership strategies that align with WestJet’s growth and sustainability goals, negotiate high-impact contracts, and drive revenue optimization through data-informed pricing and product mix decisions. You’ll ensure operational excellence across systems and compliance processes, champion digital sales enablement, and collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to deliver seamless commercial initiatives.

This role demands a seasoned leader with deep experience in international cargo sales, strong commercial acumen, and a passion for building high-performing global relationships. Key deliverables include:

  • Strategic Partnership Development:
    Develop and execute commercial strategies that align with WestJet’s growth and sustainability goals, optimizing origin-destination and product mix to maximize revenue.
  • Contract & Pricing Management:
    Lead contract negotiations and pricing strategies with GSSAs and interline partners, ensuring favorable terms and alignment with market data and internal pricing teams.
  • Operational Execution & System Compliance:
    Oversee end-to-end GSSA and interline processes, including tariff application, cargo sales reporting (CSR), IATA Clearing House (ICH) accuracy, and system integrity.
  • Sales Enablement & Network Expansion:
    Drive sales through partner collaboration, online marketplace booking adoption, and accurate freight forwarding record management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Partner with internal teams—Operations, Finance, Legal, IT, Procurement, Marketing, and more—to ensure seamless implementation of partnership strategies and commercial initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Relationship Management:
    Foster high-performing relationships with global partners and clearly communicate strategic updates and performance metrics to internal and external stakeholders.

 

 

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Aviation Management, or International Trade; MBA or equivalent strategic training preferred
  •  7 - 10+ years in international sales, business development, cargo operations, or airline partnerships
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience working in client-facing roles, partner contract management
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills required
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, market analysis, commercial negotiation, and data-driven decision-making
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to present ideas, negotiate, facilitate and problem solve
  • Team player – works to ensure team goals are met or exceeded
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Must provide high level of customer service to internal and external guests
  • High degree of diplomacy and good judgment along with the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently across multiple time zones to meet with partners regularly
  • Hold a valid passport and able to travel internationally +25 of the time
