The Icelandair North America Team – oversees all sales and spaneting efforts in North America. The team is responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding spanet presence within North America. The team consists of dedicated professionals who develop and deliver on our mission to provide exceptional service and value to our customers.
We are looking for Sales Manager – Direct Sales in North America who will lead and execute the airline’s direct sales strategy by driving revenue through owned channels such as the airline website, mobile app, customer service center, and retail outlets.
The Sales Manager – Direct Sales North America is responsible for maximizing sales performance, improving conversion rates, and enhancing the customer experience across all direct channels.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve and exceed direct sales targets while monitoring performance against KPIs and taking corrective actions where necessary.
- Oversee the performance of direct sales channels (website, app, customer service center, and ticket offices) while collaborating with digital and spaneting teams to optimize user experience and conversion rates.
- Plan and execute promotional campaigns targeted at individual travelers.
- Work with pricing, revenue management, and spaneting teams to ensure competitive positioning.
- Analyze customer behavior, booking patterns, and feedback to inform decision-making.
- Use data to segment audiences and personalize offers to drive loyalty and retention.
- Liaise with internal departments including spaneting, revenue management, IT, and operations to align strategies and enhance the sales funnel, while working closely with customer service and customer service center teams to ensure a seamless customer journey.
- Manage direct sales budget
- Prepare and present regular reports on sales performance, spanet trends, and competitive insights.
Qualifications:
- Education fit for purpose (e.g. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field).
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in sales, preferably within the airline, travel, or e-commerce industry.
- Proven track record in direct or digital sales management.
- Strong understanding of online booking platforms and customer acquisition strategies.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen.
- Results-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in using CRM systems, analytics tools, and digital platforms.
- Leadership capabilities with experience managing cross-functional teams.
The Icelandair – North America office is located in Quincy, Massachusetts. In line with Icelandair’s Flexible Working policy, we offer the flexibility to work remotely, from our office, or a mix of both. Please note that U.S. work permit is required for this position.
