Starting Salary Range: $74,000 - $84,000, DOE

Tactical Air Support, Inc., a national company operating in 14 states across the country, provides domestic and international "Center of Excellence" training and advisory services in tactical aviation, as well as the production, modification, and sustainment/maintenance of high-performance aircraft, is seeking an experienced Technical Publications Writer to join our team.

The maintenance and production teams support Tactical Air's fleet of fighter aircraft with over 75 years of combined experience in tactical aviation maintenance and more than 30 years of military adversary contract maintenance, modification, repair, and operations. MRO Services staff are a dedicated team comprised of experienced, A&P-certified, and tactical aircraft mechanics, technicians, engineers, and logisticians who all work ensuring safe and seamless operations.

This position is located in Jacksonville, Florida, the largest city in Florida with a population close to one million people. The ideal candidate for the Technical Publications Writer has a passion for aviation with demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices for technical documentation and the ability to deliver results as part of a dynamic, cross-functional team. The Technical Publications Writer will be responsible for developing lean, effective, easy-to-maintain technical content, through proactive engagement with Tactical Air Support engineers, technicians, subcontractors, and customers.

  • Possess a high degree of knowledge and expertise in aircraft electrical/avionics and structural systems.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge related to the creation of applicable maintenance, technical, special tools and test equipment manuals, publications, and instructions.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to utilize various software and applications (Microsoft Office 365/GCC High/MS Teams, Adobe DC PDF suite preferred) for creating documents and reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and publications as required; web-based applications for organizing work, communications, or data entry; virtual office/cloud-based file sharing.
  • Ability to properly handle classified materials, manage files, and maintain records in compliance with the standard or required recordkeeping practices.
  • Ability to plan and carry work through to completion with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to comfortably manage multiple tasks and projects utilizing time management and organization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to manage multiple roles and projects and to see the big picture.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and be adaptable.
  • Ability to read, listen to, and understand information and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Creativity, positivity, and confidence.
  • Regular travel to various work sites throughout the U.S. may be required.
