Job Title: Drone Technician
Job Description

As a Maintenance & Test Technician on the System Prototype & Test team, you will support the maintenance of early-stage aircraft and drive the execution of tests at the test site. This new test site focuses on environmental stress testing, including pulling drones from production for field testing, repairs, and performance validation in harsh elements. You will work with our latest prototype avionics, powertrain, and mechanisms, collaborating with engineers on design iterations and supporting field operations to maintain our flight vehicles. You will be responsible for running tests from quick semi-automated vehicle check-outs to long reliability and endurance campaigns, all with clearly documented results. Additionally, you will build large jigs and structures to support full system vehicle testing and development, including wind cannons, tether mounts, and barriers for safety.

Responsibilities

  • Pull drones from production for field testing, repairs, and performance validation in harsh elements.
  • Replace vehicle parts following instructions and update documentation in the process.
  • Verify that test specifications are correct and can be executed with the resources available.
  • Create test setups to match engineering specifications, including interpretation of test procedures and diagrams, instrumentation, data acquisition, test article diagnostics, and frontline root causing.
  • Write high-quality and detailed reports that drive to the root of any issues on a given test using data and first-order analysis.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in mechanical, avionics, testing, R&D, robotics, aircraft, electrical, and electromechanical fields.
  • Skills in repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and installation.
  • 2+ years of experience repairing and/or testing electro-mechanical devices/assemblies.
  • Experience with aircraft, robotics, and testing in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Must be willing to spend 6 weeks training in CA to start.
