Job Description:
The Gary Jet Center is looking for an experienced Senior Avionics Technician with a strong working knowledge of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. We are currently and proudly a dealer for the following avionics vendors; Collins, Bendix-King, Garmin, and Gogo. Apply to join our rapidly growing Part 145 Certified Repair Station with both avionics and maintenance departments located in the Chicagoland area.
 
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • 2 or more years of in aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
  • Assists in installations, modifications and the fabrication of wiring and electrical components, fixtures, and associated equipment in accordance with blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings
  • Assist with more complex installation tasks
  • Dissemble and reassemble aircraft interior as directed to facilitate avionics installation or repairs
  • Complete light sheet metal fabrications as directed to facilitate avionics installation
  • Complete wiring harness fabrication and installation
  • Has general knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
  • Complete antenna installations
  • Complete coax installations
  • Complete or assist with OHM and power checks
  • Complete or assist with ground checks
  • Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools as assigned by Supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Ideal candidate would have experience with installation or basic understanding of : VHF Comm systems, GPS, VOR, ILS, DME, transponder systems, Autopilot systems, Pitot-Static systems (including RVSM re-certifications), Aircraft batteries, Cabin entertainment systems, FAA regulations, and general flight line troubleshooting.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshoot malfunctions of aircraft avionics and electrical system components, such as, airborne navigation/communication systems, weather radar, autopilot, compass systems, and accessories in accordance with MFG specifications and FAA guidelines.
  • Candidate would have experience on Cessna, Dassault, Hawker, Embraer, or Bombardier business jets.
Job Requirements:
  • Proof of previous Repairman Certificate, or relevant military experience (DD214 must be provided).
  • Basic tools for working on aircraft.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and regulations.
  • Must pass FAA Approved Anti-Drug and Anti-Alcohol Abuse Program.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • Avionics install: 2 or more years
  • Airframes: Piston aircraft, Jets, Helicopters
  • Veteran of the U.S. Military is a plus
  • Aircraft specific training on Cessna, Dassault, Hawker, Embraer, or Bombardier business jets.
