Seeking Mechanic/DOM for busy seaplane tour, charter, and training company in America’s Seaplane City
 
Jones Brothers Air & Seaplane Adventures has been an icon in the heart of America’s Seaplane City since 2010. Located in Lake County and surrounded by thousands of calm freshwater lakes, Jones Brothers provides seaplane tours, charters, and training, and is dedicated to providing the highest standard of safety and customer service. We are looking for a qualified, hardworking, detail-oriented, and professional Director of Maintenance to maintain our fleet of Cessna 172, 185, 206, and Light Sport Searey. The ideal candidate is a well-organized, enthusiastic team player, willing to perform duties beyond what is asked, an efficient problem-solver, and can communicate effectively with clients and fellow employees. First and foremost, this candidate shall be responsible for maintaining the Jones Brother’s fleet, ensuring maximum safety and minimal downtime. Staying ahead of maintenance is key, and requires proper planning, organizational skills, and experience in order to acquire the necessary parts and tools for upcoming inspections. In addition to maintaining the Jones Brother’s fleet, approximately 50% of this job will include building/restoring/upgrading Cessna 172 float planes, as well as periodic freelance maintenance on other piston aircraft around Central Florida. A work vehicle will be provided; candidate is expected to own all tools necessary for the job.
 
 
Pay:
$45,000 base salary + 50% of all freelance job labor (additional $20k-$50k/yr)
 
 
Location:
20% Leesburg Airport (KLEE)
20% Tavares Seaplane Base (FA1)
10% St. Pete/Albert Whitted Airport (SPG)
50% Travelling/On-demand (mostly Central Florida)
 
 
Schedule:
9am-5pm, with the occasional weekend and/or after-hours call-out for maintenance emergencies. 
Job Requirements:
Please do not apply if you do not meet the below criteria:
 
  • A&P License with minimum 3-years experience in GA piston aircraft, including, but not limited to testing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and servicing airframe and engine components in accordance with Inspection Procedure Manuals and FAA regulations.
  • Must be punctual and capable of efficiently troubleshooting while working independently and with a team-player attitude.
  • Must have attention to detail and ability to meticulously document incoming aircraft condition, maintenance activities, and post-inspection aircraft logbooks.
  • Must have a detailed understanding of assembly, disassembly, and repairs required in the completion of airframe overhaul, repair or modifications including, but not limited to, removal, replacement and repair of parts of engines, airframes and avionics systems.
  • Must own all tools required for basic aircraft repair.
  • Sheet metal experience major plus. 
  • Must maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Must understand and adhere to all regulations including FARs and CFRs by researching aircraft historical records, maintenance tracking programs, Airworthiness Directives, and Service Bulletins.
  • Clean, organized, accurate record-keeping is a must.
  • Must be physically capable of moving aircraft during the performance of maintenance duties.
  • Familiarity with email, spreadsheets, flight tracking software, and other basic technology.
  • Must live within one hour of Tavares, Florida.
  • Must be a US citizen or be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Pass a five (5) year background check and pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be a non-smoker or be able to abstain from smoking during business hours.
  • Must have a clean driving record or be willing to pay an additional premium as required by insurance.
  • Must pass aptitude test involving aircraft mx operations and problem-solving assessments.
