Lays out castings, forgings, billets, bar stock, tubing and parts to determine the dimensional integrity of machining operations, where angles and close tolerances are involved.
Utilizes computerized equipment to program, receive, store, and disburse machining information. Communicates and verifies measurements.
Assists and instructs machine operators in performing machining operations on experimental, first run, tape-try and production parts. Works with such personnel in performing the same and/or the more difficult types of work. Performs dimensional checks on machined parts. Performs random checks of machined parts for dimensional accuracy. Works to drawings, engineering orders, sketches, verbal instructions, templates, samples and/or models.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED:
Coordinate measuring machines, computers, various hand tools, a variety of precision measurement instruments, special testing and alignment equipment, layout tools, gauges, surface tables, size and angle plates.
