7 on / 7 off schedule 

Must live in or be willing to relocate to the region.

The Pilot-in-Command has command of, and the responsibility for, the medical crew members, passengers, cargo, the safe conduct of the flight, and provides guidance and coordinates the activities of every individual connected with all phases of the aircraft operation. Directly represents Apollo MedFlight and its customers and plays a key role in customer service and quality communications with people with whom the pilot directly interacts.

  • Retains the final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft.
  • Ensures the assigned aircraft is airworthy and all proper documents are on board the aircraft.
  • Makes decisions as necessary to accept, reject, or terminate the flight, or deviation from a planned destination when operating conditions dictate.
  • Will adhere to proper Crew Resource Management (CRM) techniques and will seek input from all medical crew members prior to rendering a decision.
  • Will positively represent Apollo MedFlight and its customers to vendors, employees and patients through action, behavior, and communication.
  • Will actively participate in the Apollo Safety Management System.
  • Ensures the proper amount and grade of fuel is loaded on the aircraft.
  • Obtains briefing on the purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures, and any special instructions, and plans flight assignments.
  • Ensures that weather and aircraft performance conditions can be met appropriate to the FAR under which the flight is being conducted.
  • Ensures a flight plan or other authorized flight locating procedure is followed on each flight.
  • Ensures the aircraft is within the weight and balance requirements of the applicable Flight Manual.
  • Reports all known or suspected FAA violations or incidents promptly to the Chief Pilot.
  • Maintains a current medical certificate as required by Apollo and notifies the Chief Pilot if a medical (physical or mental) condition may impair their ability to perform the flight.
  • Ensures all aircraft equipment checks are preformed properly.
  • Ensures that all medical crew members and passengers are appropriately briefed for each phase of flight.
  • Ensures all maintenance discrepancies are reported to appropriate maintenance personnel, and Apollo Operational Control Center is alerted to the current status of the aircraft.
  • Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of the General Operations Manual, Federal Aviation Regulations, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, and other instructions and regulatory documents pertinent to assigned duties.
  • Participates in the pre-flight risk assessment process.
  • Responsible for Tier Two operational control functions.    
Job Requirements:
  • Current FAA Commercial Certificate, Rotorcraft, Helicopter; Instrument, Helicopter
  • Current FAA 2nd Class Medical Certificate
  • 1700 Total Hours
  • All other flight experience evaluated via CAMTS algorithm worksheet.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ATP
  • Previous air medical experience
  • Previous SPIFR experience
  • 100 hours NVG
