About the Company
The Boeing & Airbus Experts > HistoryHISTORY
64 years of one of a kind
In 1948, we opened our hangar at Dallas Love Field under the name Associated Radio. It was a three-man operation, installing surplus radio equipment into former military aircraft that were being converted for private and corporate use.
As ownership of large transport aircraft by businesses increased, Associated added maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities, and in 1968, we expanded operations even further to include exterior and interior modifications and refurbishments. The company’s name was then changed to Associated Air Center (AAC).
In 1978, AAC completed its first VIP conversions on two Boeing aircraft for the President of Mexico. In 1998, we completed our first wide-body: a Boeing 747 SP. Over the next decade, our growth and experience continued, as we became recognized as experts working on Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) and Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) aircraft.
But AAC’s original focus on avionics has never wavered – we pioneered the use of EFIS, forward-looking radar, EGPWS, TCAS and satellite communications in large transport aircraft, and we continue to be one of the premier avionics modification and installation centers in the world.
Today, Associated Air Center is known the world over for providing large transport category aircraft with the highest quality maintenance and modifying them in ways that have never been seen before. Our clients range from major corporations and heads of state to professional sports teams and internationally-known personalities. We’ve never expanded beyond our home at Dallas Love Field because we think that our success is based on the skill, innovation and dedicated service of so many of the mechanics, designers, engineers and craftsmen who work here…and our clients seem to agree.
