Build Embedded Software Where Performance, Security, and Reliability MatterPDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in aerospace and defense, to hire an Embedded Software Engineer for an on-site role in San Diego, California. In this position, you’ll design and develop embedded and real-time software that supports advanced, mission-critical systems used to protect and connect people around the world.

What You’ll DoAs an Embedded Software Engineer, you’ll contribute across the full software lifecycle while working on cutting-edge aerospace and defense technologies. Your responsibilities will include:
Designing, developing, integrating, and testing embedded software for cryptographic and software-defined radio systems
Developing software for embedded and real-time operating environments
Collaborating with Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Hardware, and Integration & Test teams
Working within an Agile development environment using modern DevOps tools
Analyzing system requirements, performance, and constraints to resolve complex technical challenges
Supporting low-level firmware and multi-threaded real-time embedded applications
Applying formal software lifecycle practices from requirements through verification and testing
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or another STEM discipline with 5+ years of related experience
Strong proficiency in C and C++
Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
Experience across the full software development lifecycle
Experience developing and debugging embedded real-time systems
Experience integrating low-level firmware in complex, multi-threaded environments
Familiarity with static analysis and unit testing
Experience using Git, Jira, Bitbucket, and Agile development processes
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with Software Defined Radios
Experience with avionics operating systems
Experience with Xilinx platforms (Zynq, UltraScale+, VERSAL)
Experience with Yocto/PetaLinux
Knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, Ethernet)
Experience with TCP/IP networking
Experience implementing cryptographic mechanisms using software libraries
Experience with Rust
Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development
Familiarity with FPGA technologies (VHDL/Verilog), bare-metal drivers, or PowerPC architectures
Familiarity with NSA security standards, HAIPE, OTNK, or IKE

Pay Details: $64.00 per hour
