General Accountability
Reports To: Vice President/General Manager
The Engineering Manager directs the activities and operations of an engineering department/project team through assigning, coordinating, reviewing, and participating directly in the design, development and inspection of technical or engineering work/projects.
Direct Reports May Include: Engineer/Engineering Technologist/Specialist, Writer, Technical; Administrator, Support Services; Assistant, Technical Library; Coordinator.
What you’ll do
- Develop and implement standards, policies and procedures for engineering and technical work performed in the relevant department/project team.
- Plan, organize, direct and control the activities and operations of an engineering department/project team.
- Consult and negotiate with clients to prepare specifications, explain proposals and present engineering reports and findings.
- May participate directly in the design, development and inspection of technical projects or in the engineering work of the department/project team.
- Oversee engineering projects to ensure they are technically sound and in compliance with all internal and external regulatory standards.
- Monitor the progress of on-going projects, make recommendations for improving the process to meet the needs of the end-users, performs job cost reporting, budget analysis and reporting of overall project control.
- Determine if assistance is required from outside contractors, initiates arrangements, provides technical data and assists contractors with related support services.
- Exercise authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports.
- Actively participate as a member of the appropriate management team(s), assisting with the development and realization of departmental strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes.
- Carry out special projects as assigned.
What Skills you will use:
- University degree in an engineering discipline; or equivalent (Required)
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering discipline, including minimum of 2 years supervisory experience (Required)
- 3+ years’ experience in the engine maintenance repair and overhaul space (Required)
Preferred Characteristics
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Working knowledge of PCs in the current company operating system environment.
Salary Range:
$111,078 – $139,128

Background Information
The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a university (bachelor) program in a specialized field of study and work. The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job. This specialized training is often recognized by a degree and/or professional designation.
Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is three to six years.
