Job Description:
We are partnered with one of the leading interior design companies in the Aerospace Industry to find a Senior Seating Engineer. Headquartered in Washington, they have been in business for more than 30 years. The Senior Seating Engineer will direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects for aerospace seating solutions.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Design of new aviation seating products and ideas to improve existing seating products
  • Ability to perform static and dynamic analysis on seating assemblies using FEA software preferred
  • Research new suppliers of seating components like seating foam stackups, upholstery, and mechanical components to ensure the best comfort options in the industry
  • Materials research and selection to support design requirements
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications
  • Executes components of design projects and develops product definition and requirements development
  • Create and present concepts/products to internal and external customers
  • Manage projects from initial drawing release to liaison support and product delivery
  • Create and track schedules using Microsoft Project, or equivalent
  • Manage the design, purchase, assembly and testing of prototypes
  • Create test plans and coordinate internal and external qualification testing and document results with test reports
  • Maintain metrics to track budget and schedule requirements
  • Develop Return on Investment and business case analysis
  • Creating and validating new designs (modeling/drafting/BOM creation)
  • Manufacturing liaison support
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
  • Acts as a mentor and provides feedback for lower-level engineers
  • Participates in peer technical reviews and final design sign-off
  • Estimates proposals for bid hours and technical compliance
Job Requirements:
  • BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 10 – 20 years’ experience in the Aerospace industry or closely related field
  • 5 – 10 years of experience in seating products for the Aerospace industry or closely related field
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask
  • Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative required
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal
  • Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative
  • Working knowledge of FAA and MIL testing standards
  • Experience with FAA and military certification
  • Must be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in SolidWorks and Enterprise PDM, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of aerospace materials and standards
