SHIPPING AND RECEIVING CLERK
Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is responsible for the shipping, receiving and inspection of inbound and outbound parts, supplies and materials for aircraft modification and maintenance. This is an experienced-level position that has no supervisory experience and reports to the Warehouse Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive and inspect incoming goods for accuracy and quality, comparing invoice and order reports to actual received goods.
  • Ensure that all items are received in accordance with the quality control manual.
  • Prepare items for shipping, including boxing items, creating shipping labels, and maintaining detailed records of outgoing shipments
  • Manage inventory by organizing stock in the receiving area and maintaining accurate records
  • Load and unload delivery trucks, either by hand or using equipment such as forklifts
  • Process returned goods, documenting damages and discrepancies, and returning merchandise to stock
  • Communicate with appropriate staff for smooth shipment processes
  • Resolve shipping issues and customer complaints that arise, escalating complex issues to management as needed.
  • Ensures life limited (shelf life) items are appropriately identified and are removed from stock when expiration date is reached.
  • Maintains a system of bar-coding parts, supplies and encoding inventory information for updating the inventory and management information system database to ensure accurate parts and supplies information.
  • Assumes responsibility for effectively and efficiently supplying production areas and departments with a quality product.
  • Ensures the work area is maintained in a clean, neat, and organized manner.
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in a related position dealing with inventory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Additional related education and/or training.

  • Knowledge of safety standards and required product storage temperatures.
  • Ability to use a pallet jack, utility knife, mobile shelving, carts, 10 key, and calculator.

  • Strong problem solving abilities.
  • Computer skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak Standard English for routine business correspondence and for producing work products.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in indoor and outdoor settings. The indoor settings include office and warehouse environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as safety gear. The outdoor settings include parking lots and airplane runways. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects.

Medium work; able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL: Travel is not expected for this position.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be able to legally work in the US without sponsorship. Must be able to pass a post offer DOT drug test upon hire.
