Position Summary:

The Mechanic is responsible for properly manufacturing and/or repairing aircraft parts and assemblies in accordance with specifications.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assembles aircraft parts following blueprints, Mylars and specifications.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints/Mylars in order to determine type of tools and process required
  • Finish out of small details including deflash, edge seal and pinhole fill.
  • Manufactures new bonded structures in accordance with engineering drawings, process specifications, and planning documents.
  • Fabricates, assembles, reworks and repairs bonded structures
  • Manufactures new parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings, process specifications, and planning documents.
  • Actively support and participate in continuous improvement activities, team meetings, and holding him/herself accountable for sustaining improvements.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Assembly of aerospace structures
  • Communication, verbal and written (English)
  • Composite edge seal, de-flash sanding and pinhole fill/paint prep of panels
  • Computer skills (MS Office & business system)
  • Hand tool proficiency (drills, 90 degree grinders, routers, manual rivet squeeze, knives, etc.)
  • Measure: read scales, calipers and tape measures
  • Organizes, plans, prioritizes & completes work on time
  • Paperwork precision and accuracy
  • Part traceability
  • Power tool proficiency: band saws, drill presses, riveters, pneumatic press, etc
  • Read and interpret technical documents (dwgs, Mylars, specs, M&P etc.)

Experience and Education:

  • Education and Training

o High school diploma or GED preferred

o Ideal would be familiarity with fabrication of metal/composite skins, doublers and detail parts.

  • Technical Requirements

o The Mechanic must have a mechanical aptitude, the ability to use precision tools, and the ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings, process specifications, and planning documents.

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
