PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

  • Establish and maintain relationship with and serve as primary point of contact for assigned FAA Safety Inspectors.
  • Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of and is the local authority for all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and the Repair Station Quality Control and Training Manuals
  • Ensures compliance with all elements of 14 CFR Parts 43 and 145
  • Plans, organizes, staffs, controls, and directs the Inspection department
  • Develops, maintains and complies with the FAA Repair Station Manual and Quality Control Manual
  • Develops, maintains and complies with the FAA Training Program Manual
  • Obtains and maintains domestic and foreign repair station approvals.
  • Administers the approval of suppliers and monitors supplier performance
  • Administers the Internal Quality Audit Program
  • Coordinates with Department Managers to comply with requirements of the Repair Station Training Program and maintains the technicians training records
  • Administers the Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic equipment calibration program
  • Complies with Repair Stations record keeping requirements
  • Ensures that all technical data is current
  • Controls the issuance of inspectors stamps and manages the Repair Station rosters
  • May travel to customer locations to establish and / or maintain good working relations including dispute resolution
  • Observes company rules and regulations, including housekeeping and proper use of safety methods and the safe operation of proper equipment
  • Stays current with industry trends and innovations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Accountable Manager

NON-PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

  • May perform inspection of aircraft maintenance and alterations for quality and airworthiness, providing the approval for return to service with respect to the work performed (if authorized)
  • Perform special assignments and projects as required by Management.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Ten years aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Five years aircraft inspection experience.
  • Two years in a Supervisory or Management role in a FAA Repair Station environment.
  • Previous experience interfacing with FAA Flight Standards Inspectors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FAA and Federal Aviation Regulations including but not limited to 14 CFR Parts 21, 43, 135, 145
  • Working knowledge of Foreign Regulatory Authorities/ Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of FAA applications including but not limited to VDRP, SDR, DRS, SAS and AWC.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and web-based applications.
  • The proven ability to train and lead employees. Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with a variety of individuals, departments, organizations, and Regulatory Agencies.
  • Must be pro-active and team orientated.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to walk long distances, climb, and kneel for extended periods of time with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Good vision, 20/20 corrected minimum

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or Management Fields
  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
  • Bilingual Portuguese or Spanish
  • Familiarity with Aviation Safety Management Systems
