Job Description:

Duties shall include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises the Supervisor of Training, Manager of Flight Operations Engineering, Check Airman/Instructors and Pilots. Manager of Flight Standards and Assistant Chief Pilot group
  • Assists Director of Operations in his duties
  • Assures that all FAR’s and safe practices are complied with by flight crew members
  • Makes recommendations to appropriate management regarding new or improved flight operation policies, practices or procedures
  • Maintains flight manuals, checklists and crew equipment required for the aircraft
  • Recruits flight crew members
  • Insures adequate flight crew training, testing, recording and archiving of training records
  • Responsible for all flight testing of aircraft when required
  • Terminates, restricts or suspends operations when conditions are known to be hazardous until those conditions are corrected
  • Preferred residence Bay Area or California

The Chief Pilot may delegate functions, but Chief Pilot retains responsibility. The Chief Pilot must be thoroughly familiar with the Company Manuals, Operations Specifications and FAA Regulations

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 2,000 hours Total Time with 1,000 hours Pilot-in-Command
  • Excellent communication skills and quick and accurate decision making
  • Close attention to detail
  • Must be able to speak, write, and read fluent English
  • Ability to work varying hours of the day or night, on weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and security badges
  • Must have right to work in the United States
  • Must have a valid passport, and ability to travel internationally
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year Background/Criminal check and pre-employment drug screen

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience
  • Master’s Degree preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to obtain First Class Medical Certificate
  • Travel 100%
  • Lift up to 60 lbs

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

  • Stand – 10%
  • Walk – 10%
  • Sit – 80%
  • Travel – 40%
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

MENTAL CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able and willing to work in a culturally diverse atmosphere and professionally interact with passengers and crew under stressful conditions
  • Must be willing to work in a time-sensitive environment and effectively handle stress associated with meeting deadlines, and managing unexpected change
  • Capable of interpreting a variety of and multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to communicate effectively so to be understood
  • Must be able to remain calm, think and react quickly in all types of emergencies including but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, turbulence, etc.
  • Able to process information quickly
  • Ability to complete routine forms, use existing form letters and/or conduct routine oral communication
  • Possess attention to detail

CHIEF PILOT
PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING
Under FAA regulations the company is required to conduct pre-employment drug testing and receive a negative test result for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine (PCP), and amphetamines or a metabolite of those drugs in your system before the company hires you to fill an “FAA Covered Position.” Additionally, the company conducts a pre-employment drug test on NON-DOT applicants and must receive a negative test result for amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene and cannabinoids before filling a “NON-DOT Position.”
You will not be asked to submit a pre-employment drug test unless and until your application reaches the final stages of the application process. If you do not wish to submit to drug testing, you may withdraw your application now or at any time. Any testing will be conducted at the Company’s expense.
