The Role

Wonderful Citrus is seeking a Director of Maintenance for its Aviation Department in Bakersfield, CA.
  
The Director of Maintenance (DOM) is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all Wonderful Citrus owned and operated aircraft. The DOM will establish strategic goals for aircraft maintenance, assist in develop an annual maintenance plan and budget, oversee Wonderful Citrus aircraft maintenance activities, and serve as a staff advisor to Flight Operations. This includes planning, scheduling and accomplishment of preventive and nonscheduled maintenance on all aircraft and ground support equipment to ensure safety, maximize aircraft availability, and manage costs to create maximum value for Wonderful Citrus. Additional responsibilities include developing and fostering positive relationship with vendors, regulators and industry organizations as well as providing leadership and management of the maintenance staff.

Here's what you'll do:
  • Create a vision for Maintenance Department goals and objectives to support the Flight Operations mission
  • Communicate goals, schedules activities and establishes priorities for the Maintenance Department
  • Providing leadership, management and mentoring of aviation maintenance technicians
  • Assist in creating maintenance budget and accountable for managing to that budget
  • Allocate resources and resolves conflicts to achieve department objectives
  • Responsible for overall maintenance management, operation and reliability of aircraft
  • Development and execution of daily preflight inspection process
  • Perform applicable maintenance on aircraft as appropriate
  • Directs the implementation of maintenance standards, methods and procedures utilized by Flight Operations to ensure compliance with approved Operations Specifications, Flight Operations Manual, Federal Aviation Regulations and manufacturer's recommendations
  • Keep aircraft records as required by Flight Standard Practices and Federal Aviation Regulation guidelines;
  • Develop plan and execution for applicable aircraft maintenance tracking
  • Integration of maintenance tracking to scheduling software
  • Ensures the proper completion of maintenance logs, forms and records for work in progress, work completed, or work carried over
  • Ensure that adequate tools, parts, materials, support equipment and facilities are provided and controlled;
  • Enforce safety and housekeeping for hangar area
  • Coordinate and approves invoicing and billing for payment
  • Update Flight Operations Team on status of aircraft maintenance on a continuous basis
  • Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity and fulfillment of commitments
  • Build, foster and maintain relationship with manufacturer's, vendors and industry professionals that will enhance the productivity of the department
  • Establish good working relationship with both flight crews and flight scheduling
  • Other tasks and assignments as required

  • Maintain a current FAA Airframe and Power-plant (A&P) certificate
  • Maintain current FAA Inspector Authorization (IA) Certificate (Preferred)
  • Aircraft maintenance log completion forms and records experience
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with assigned aircraft and appropriately certified to meet Wonderful Citrus Maintenance Standards
  • Experience with product evaluation and inspection for aircrafts, vendor selection and working with outside aircraft maintenance agencies
  • Ability to identify the nature of a problem with an aircraft and manage the process to correct the problem;
  • Must have knowledge of the proper tools, parts, materials, support equipment and facilities needed for aircraft maintenance
  • Must be familiar with aircraft fueling, towing and parking practices
  • Proven team work and contribution
  • Absence of history of violations of Federal Aviation Administration regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Associates degree (A.A.) from accredited institution and 10 plus years relevant experience, OR, equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Travel estimated to be limited
  • On call 24/7 or as needed to meet evolving business requirements
  • Travel for industry trade meetings and oversight of contractor maintenance is required
