Job Description:

The Eero project will have up to 70 people on staff. The ESOH manager will design the programs, develop the procedures and policies, implement the programs, and audit the effectiveness of the programs. The ESOH manager will be responsible for “standing up” a new workforce for the project as the work force is identified and onboarded. The ESOH manager will also have a technician answering directly to them.

This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background check and drug screening and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.


Responsibilities

  • The ESOH Manager is responsible the project Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health programs.
  • The ESOH team is responsible for the inspections and testing safety showers, eyewash stations, emergency lights, safety harnesses, lanyards, fall arresting equipment, ladders, vehicles, and other equipment. The ESOH manager will also be responsible for handling permitted waste and regulations.
  • Performs periodic safety inspections of on-site safety equipment and programs.
  • Ensures that equipment is in the correct location, that it is in good working order, clean, and apply inspecting tags to equipment to track the completion of the periodic checks.
  • Oversees the replacement of safety equipment that has been damaged or used in the day-to-day operation of the building.
  • Manages the response to CMMS work orders for service to safety equipment.
  • Oversees the inspection of Akima owned equipment.
  • Oversees inspections of fall protection equipment like harnesses, lanyards, fall arresting equipment, and retrieval devises.
  • Oversees the programs that maintain tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe, operating conditions.
  • Issues permits and inspects job sites for safe work practices.
  • Audits work and follows up on audits of permitting process.
  • Reviews Hot work, Confined space, and lock out tag out permits for compliance.
  • Builds and implements the environmental, safety, and occupational health requirements applicable to the project.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Five years of experience in an environmental, health, and safety role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, training sessions, and incident investigations.
  • OSHA 30-hour General Industry certification or ability to obtain within the first 30 days.
  • Thorough working knowledge of OSHA General Industry regulations (29 CFR 1910) and EPA environmental requirements.
  • Possess a valid, state-issued driver’s license at the time of hire.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and EHS management systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train employees and work with all levels of the organization.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational health & safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field preferred.
  • Possess one or more professional certifications directly applicable to this position (CSP, SMS, or ASP) from a nationally recognized and accredited certification organization.
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification or previous experience working with hazardous materials management and industrial hygiene monitoring.
