Part-Time Contract Position
This role is a 2 year contract with pay not to exceed 29 hours a week.
As a project manager, you will lead end-to-end development of high-reliability space hardware systems, from concept to on-orbit delivery, ensuring technical excellence and mission alignment.
Responsibilities:
Lead complex, multi-disciplinary space hardware projects involving mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineering disciplines
Develop and execute tailored hardware development plans aligned with lifecycle processes and mission requirements
Coordinate project schedules, milestones, budgets, and deliverables across internal teams, customers, and suppliers
Oversee technical execution, setting direction for engineering teams and leading major design lifecycle reviews
Provide accurate cost estimation, budget tracking, and financial reporting to leadership and stakeholders
Ensure hardware designs meet space application constraints: size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C)
Manage procurement, manufacturing, integration, and test activities to meet project quality and timeline goals
Communicate project status, risks, and technical decisions with clarity and transparency to internal and external stakeholders
Identify and mitigate technical, programmatic, and operational risks, tracking resolution to closure
Present designs and technical rationale to design review boards and safety boards
Foster a collaborative team environment through mentorship and technical leadership
Champion continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned into future program execution
Ensure overall program execution, customer satisfaction, and delivery performance
Support other duties aligned with successful project delivery
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems) from a U.S.-accredited institution
5+ years of experience managing engineering projects involving complex systems
Proven track record of delivering cross-functional projects on schedule and within budget
U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card)
Must pass a U.S. government background check
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA from a U.S.-accredited institution
Experience managing hardware development for space, high-vibration, or thermal-extreme environments
Familiarity with NASA, MIL-STD, or other spaceflight industry standards
Experience with space payload development for ISS, lunar missions, or commercial space stations
