JOB SUMMARY: The Quality Director is responsible for ensuring that all products designed and manufactured by the company meet aviation industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This position oversees the Quality Management System (QMS), manages FAA, AS9100, and FAR compliance, and leads efforts to continuously improve product quality, process control, and customer satisfaction. The Quality Director serves as the company’s quality authority and a key liaison between leadership, customers, and regulatory agencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by a job incumbent. 20% - Maintain and continuously improve the AS9100-compliant QMS, ensuring adherence to FAA, customer, and industry requirements.  

20% - Ensure compliance with all applicable aviation regulations (FAA, EASA, FAR, etc.) and customer quality standards.  Prepare for and manage customer, FAA, and third-party audits.  

20% - Supervise incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure parts and assemblies meet design specifications. Establish inspection standards and approve inspection equipment calibration.

10% - Oversee the control and disposition of nonconforming material. Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.

10% - Evaluate, qualify, and monitor suppliers. Conduct supplier audits and coordinate corrective actions to ensure quality and delivery standards are met.

5% - Lead initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies to improve process efficiency, reduce defects, and enhance overall quality.

5% - Ensure accurate documentation of inspections, test results, and quality records. Prepare performance reports and present findings to senior leadership.

5% - Manage and develop the quality assurance staff. Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.

5% - Work closely with product management, engineering, production, and supply chain teams to proactively identify and resolve quality issues during product design and manufacturing.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES 
•    8+ years quality experience in aerospace or aviation manufacturing, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role
•    Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, FAR and FAA regulations
•    Experience with first article inspections (FAI), PPAP, and configuration control
•    Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, and special processes (e.g., welding, plating)
•    Proficiency with quality tools (FMEA, SPC, 8D, root cause analysis, etc.)
•    Excellent communication, problem solving, and leadership skills
•    Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence

EDUCATION/TRAINING/LICENSES
•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field (Military Education accepted)
•    ASQ certification (CQE, CQM/OE, or CQA) or Six Sigma certification desirable

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT 
•    Works predominately at office desk: carrying out both manual and repetitive arm hand and finger movements regarding computerized data entry and data processing tasks.
•    Job requires verbal contact with and listening to internal and external stakeholders in both a one-on-one and group setting.  
•    The job requires use of hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. 
•    The job requires the ability to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects 1 lb. to 50 lbs. multiple times each month.
•    Job requires walking or standing often and may include periodic bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing in and around aircraft and other vehicles.
•    Works in environmentally controlled work area with adequate lighting.
•    Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
•    Mental activities necessary include concentration, mathematical accuracy, organization, and communication skills. 
•    May require personal safety equipment such as hearing and eye protection in PPE specified areas.
•    Travels (including airline travel) periodically to customer sites

•    Knowledge of standard office machines, including but not limited to multiline phone system, fax, postage, copier, binding, etc.
•    Measuring and test equipment including but not limited to multimeter, ruler, caliper, function waveform generators, oscilloscope, universal counter, power supplies, and calibrator.
