SUMMARY STATEMENT:



Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Material Expeditor is responsible for the timely flow of material, parts and components to the shop floor to avoid interruption of shop work due to lack of materials including the sourcing of “hard to find” materials by using your acquired knowledge of the industry and your demonstrated resourcefulness. this position helps establish minimum stocking levels for the stockroom, provides weekly reorder reports to purchasing and submits requisitions for items required specifically for aircraft undergoing maintenance in the shop.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES:




1. Plan and stage material for up-coming shop work to ensure that the necessary stock will be on-hand when required.

2. Work closely with the Maintenance Manager and Group Leaders to ensure the timely flow of material to the shop floor and expedite material that has the potential to delay the delivery of the aircraft and/or interrupt the efficient flow of work on the shop floor.

3. Monitor usage of material, parts and components to determine stocking levels. Issue reorder reports to purchasing for stock replenishment, monitor open order reports and expedite overdue orders as necessary.

4. Attend daily shop production meetings and report on the status of material shortages.

5. Work with the Rotables Administrator to ensure parts sent out for repair / servicing are returned in time to meet shop deadlines.

6. Provide Customer Service Managers with price and delivery information for the purposes of estimating customer work and shop as many sources as possible to ensure we get the best price for our customer.

7. Monitor all incoming receipts for the shop and communicate with the receiving inspector on shop requirements and assist the receiving inspector in resolving problems that affect the receipt.

8. Research Illustrated Parts Catalogs, blueprints, Maintenance Manuals, Component Maintenance Manuals, Structural Repair Manuals, Service Bulletins, and Airworthiness Directives to find parts required.

9. Monitor work orders to ensure parts are properly issued to the correct work order and discrepancy.

10. Make parts requisitions as required and follow through until parts are on the shop floor.

11. Daily attendance is essential for this position.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION & TRAINING:



High School or equivalent. Broad knowledge of material planning and inventory control procedures, the use of Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Maintenance Manuals, engineering drawings and specifications. Must have an aircraft maintenance background and be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.



EXPERIENCE, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE:



Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the aviation industry with the scheduling, stockroom practices and inventory control of aircraft parts and purchasing. Must posses a good working knowledge of industry sources for material, parts and components. Must have good communication skills to effectively interact with outside vendors and maintenance supervisors.



WORKING CONDITIONS:



Work is usually conducted in an office, warehouse and aircraft hangar atmosphere.



Exposed to typical aircraft maintenance conditions such as engine noise, riveting, dust and chemical fumes, none of which to the extent of being intolerable. Hearing, vision and breathing protection provided in appropriate areas.



Some exposure to elements of weather when traveling and/or commuting between buildings.



PHYSICAL & MENTAL CONDITIONS:



Requires lifting of items weighing up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis.



Requires the use of either or both hands for grasping items. Manual dexterity is required i.e.: unpacking shipping boxes, and re-packing components in boxes.



Requires physical effort associated with standing/walking/sitting.



Requires the ability to reach above shoulder height in accomplishing job tasks.



Sufficient vision and hearing required to successfully accomplish the requirements of the position.



Requires the ability to twist, bend, squat, climb and other body movements to successfully accomplish the requirements of the position.
