Job Title: Avionics Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Avionics Technician to join our team in the dynamic space sector. This role involves working on the unique avionics architecture of a full fly-by-wire spaceship, focusing on harness installation, wire tying, wire bundle routing, wire stripping, terminations, continuity checks, troubleshooting, and other exciting spacecraft manufacturing operations. You will utilize shop tools and machinery such as multimeters, soldering irons, crimpers, wire strippers, and cutters.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble avionics components and install them on ships, including wire harnesses, data acquisition units (DAU), and sensors.
  • Support the manufacturing team in installation, design, development, and testing of parts and technologies used on aircrafts or in space exploration.
  • Follow directions and guidelines from the team leader to support collaboration across teams to complete projects.
  • Provide technical and operational knowledge in assessing and recommending repairs/maintenance for assigned programs.
  • Handle moderately difficult manufacturing assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations.
  • Ensure the quality and efficiency of installations, including troubleshooting, and may provide guidance in troubleshooting processes and concepts.
  • Adhere to assembly instructions to ensure accurate completion of complex project assemblies.
  • Continuously practice safety behavior and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) awareness/prevention; adhere to regulatory protocols and rules.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve goals and complete assigned tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of three years of experience in aircraft fabrication and assembly or equivalent industry.
  • Experience with aircraft wire harness fabrication and installation as well as LRU build-up and installation.
  • Ability to use computer applications to follow manufacturing work instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and models on paper or digitally.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Airframe & Power plant (A&P) training.
  • Willingness to learn cutting-edge spacecraft manufacturing techniques.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing philosophies and tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

Work within an aircraft hangar equipped with temperature control, though humidity may be elevated due to the nature of the aircraft parts. The position requires working on the 2nd shift from Thursday to Sunday, 4 pm to 2:30 am, with the possibility of overtime, though not guaranteed.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
