Special Missions Technician
Job Description:

Phoenix Air Group provides specialized support for numerous military and governmental programs.  As such, the personnel employed by the Special Missions department are often faced with a broad range of challenges and an ever-changing technical environment. Our group is constantly tasked to provide reliable, innovative solutions to diverse airborne platform applications, from removable single system installations to highly integrated electronics suites.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs repairs, modifications, and installations on company aircraft. 
  • Able to deploy in support of flight operations and testing.
  • Able to perform work on various aircraft such as power distribution, wiring and control systems.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with customers and government representatives. 
Job Requirements:
  • Employees must possess a current US secret security clearance.  
  • If hired, employee will be required to obtain a US passport.
  • Position requires a working knowledge of how standard electronic components work in circuit.  Examples include relays, diodes, resistors, capacitors, IC’s, transistors, switches, circuit breakers, etc.  Bench test experience not required but is very desirable. 
  • A background utilizing basic RF principles is very desirable.  A familiarity with RF transmission, reception, antennas and associated theory is not mandatory for hiring but will aid the employee in becoming proficient in the requirements of the position.
  • Aircraft installation experience useful.  Typical systems installed here include VHF, UHF and HF comms, GPS systems with air data computer and interfacing to the flight director and autopilot systems, multiple station audio with ICS capability, and a large variety of specialized military, electronic warfare and telemetry systems in support of government contract requirements.
  • After a period of OJT, the employee will be required to travel.  Responsibilities could include (but is not limited to) any of the following:(a). Troubleshooting and repair of the aircraft avionics systems. (b). Troubleshooting and repair of installed special mission equipment. (c) Operation of the installed EW equipment. (d) Target towing operations. (e) Target drone launches to include preflight checks and systems repair.
  • Deployments could be to any area of the world.  Most of the travel OCONUS is to Naval bases in Hawaii but could be anywhere the company is tasked to send an aircraft.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Talk and/or hear regularly throughout the day.
  • Sitting is required up to but not limited to 6 hours during flight operations.
  • Sitting can be up to but not limited to 6 hours while performing work on various projects.
  • Standing and walking on occasion.
  • Climb or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
  • Use fingers and hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms to perform work duties as needed.
  • Lift and/or move up to 55 pounds frequently and at times in small confined spaces.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus throughout the day.
  • Must be able to pass drug and background screen.
