Job Title: Assistant Director of Operations (ADO)
Department: OCC Management
Reports To: Director of Operations (DO)
Location: Must live in or be willing to relocate to the local MI area.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The ADO assists the DO in oversight of the Flight Operations departments. The ADO will help to
monitor, manage, coordinate, and communicate with the DO, the Chief Pilot, and other Flight
Operations Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Assist in coordinating implementation, integration, and maintenance of Safety Management
Systems (S.M.S.) throughout the OCC and Flight Operations.
2. Ensure policies and procedures are documented in appropriate areas and communicated
efficiently.
3. Ensure all flight operations are conducted at the highest level of safety.
4. Assist in developing, reviewing, revising, and obtaining required approvals of flight operation
manuals and bulletins.
5. Promote and maintain safety procedures throughout Flight Operations.
6. Report regularly to the DO on matters relating to Flight Operations.
7. Assist in monitoring electronic flight bag (EFB) releases and currency.
8. Continually improve the level of safety in Flight Operations and the OCC.
9. Comply with all applicable regulatory requirements.
10. Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and other third parties.
11. Assists with A, B, and C OpSpecs application, custody, and maintenance.
12. Assists with Pilot new hire process.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
1. Previous experience as a Check Pilot, Assistant Chief Pilot, Chief Pilot, or Director of Operations at a FAR 121/135 carrier preferred.
2. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or a related field preferred.
3. Previous Boeing aircraft operating experience preferred.
4. Ability to successfully complete Kalitta Air’s Captain upgrade program on either the B747 or
B777.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. FAA Multi-Engine Airline Transport Certificate or Restricted Multi-Engine Airline Pilot Certificate
2. 2500+ hours of total time minimum. 4000 hours preferred
- If Military: >1000 hrs. Total Time. Turbine and PIC are flexible.
3. 1500 turbine (Jet) flight time minimum
4. 500 PIC turbine (Jet) flight time minimum
5. Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate
6. FCC Radio License
7. No restrictions on International Travel
8. Current US Passport
9. Ability to pass a 10-year security background check and pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee will perform duties in an office environment, but will also be a line qualified pilot working
both inside and outside of the cockpit in a wide variety of meteorological conditions, including
extreme cold and heat
