Reports To: VP of Engineering

Position Summary:
The Engineer III takes a project from concept, creates an overall project scope, and oversees the project through testing and certification, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations. Assists in training and developing employees in the Engineer I job category, performing program management functions, and evaluating currently fielded product performance.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Conducts engineering analysis and conceptual design for new and existing products
      a. Performs design work and testing for new product under development
      b. Reviews Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
      c. Initiates and processes Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
      d. Creates design changes using Autodesk Inventor software
      e. Manages design data files using PDM software
      f. Incorporates multiple points of view to the design of new products (i.e. manufacturing, installation,       service, end customer use, etc)
2. Responsible for FAA certification report writing
      a. Creates reports detailing how FAA regulations are met
      b. Prepares additional documentation in support of certification, including test plans/reports, certification       plans/reports and engineering analysis documentation
3. Assists with the project management process for new products by providing input to overall project scope from initial project concept through completion and certification
      a. Assists with creating a project schedule to complete to allow the company to plan for project launch
      b. Assists with defining required resources (i.e. outside consultants, test equipment, manufacturing       tooling, etc.)
      c. Updates weekly project status and schedules
      d. Completes project analysis and design
4. Maintains effective relationships with internal and external customers to deliver quality service to customers and vendors
      a. Directly interacts with customers regarding new product development and existing product       improvements
5. Assists in evaluating product performance through its life cycle to determine necessary improvements, changes, and service history, including troubleshooting and solving customer problems
6. Monitors daily activities of employees in the Engineer I job category, including the following:
      a. Trains new Engineers
      b. Oversees the projects of new Engineers, ensuring that Wipaire protocols are followed and customer       needs are fulfilled
Job Requirements:
  • Four-year degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or similar engineering or FAA designee required
  • Five to ten years minimum practical engineering experience required
  • Four to six years minimum project management experience preferred
  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience preferred
  • FAA designee preferred
  • Excellent computer skills with a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and the ability to learn Wipaire software packages
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced engineering skill sets
  • Perform occasional lifting of supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
